About this Speaker

My name is Gaston Melis and in daily life I work as a Senior Communications Specialist at Athora, a European insurance company with branches in Ireland, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands.

Some thirty years ago I started as a journalist writing about sports and arts (weird combination). Since I was doing my writing on a Mac, I was asked to contribute to Dutch bi-monthly magazine MacFan. That made me look for nice topics to write about (Youtube…? Naa, will never fly – who wants to watch tv on a pc?!). 

One of my articles was on webdesign tools (you can make your own website… at home!), reviewing apps like Sandbox, iWeb, Freeway and… RapidWeaver. Next thing I knew, I was that nephew that can make an aunt a website just as good as an agency (even better!).

So, for the past 15 years I've been building and maintaining websites, not just with RapidWeaver, but with all sorts of small and big applications, like Drupal, Wordpress, Typo 3 and currently Episerver. Through that experience I can honestly say that RapidWeaver + Foundation 6 + Total CMS is the best thing out there.
